During our formative, teenage years, my friends and I were big fans of wrestling; the industry was at its peak back then as the World Wrestling Federation (WWF) went head-to-head with World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Since then, the industry and my passion for it has died down somewhat as World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) reigns as the dominant “sports entertainment” product. Still, I like to keep abreast of current events in the WWE and share my thoughts on their annual pay-per-view events and classic matches.
Heading into this year’s Survivor Series, it’s fair to say that a large chunk of the WWE’s marketing and build has centred around the event coinciding with the Undertaker’s thirtieth anniversary and his “final farewell” to the role (and, presumably, wrestling). I can’t help but notice that the WWE hasn’t really put that much effort into putting together a match card for this year’s Hell in a Cell event; only a few days ago, there were just four matches announced for the pay-per-view, with two of them, of course, being Hell in a Cell matches. Instead, … Continue reading Wrestling Recap: Hell in a Cell Predictions
Well, I’m glad I went to all that trouble to actually praise the WWE for managing to get all of their main roster belts on a pay-per-view for a change only for them to pull two matches at the very last minute; to be fair, I wasn’t especially hyped to see Bayley fight Nikki Cross … Continue reading Wrestling Recap: Clash of Champions: Gold Rush Results
It’s been a funny old time in the WWE since the one-two-punch of SummerSlam and Payback; things have actually had time to simmer and grow towards their next pay-per-view. I mean…not everything but most of the matches on the card actually have some history and build behind them rather than just being slapped together in … Continue reading Wrestling Recap: Clash of Champions: Gold Rush Predictions
