Talking Movies

Perhaps the greatest passion of my life, especially in recent years, is movies. I grew up watching action, horror, science-fiction, and fantasy films but have pretty broad tastes as well; having studied films for years, I’m happy to watch anything but always scrutinised a film to its smallest detail. Given that I tend to see at least one new film a month at the cinema, I tend to publish these articles at least once a month (or more, if it takes my fancy).

When reviewing films, I previously employed a dual thumb/star rating system (with two thumbs up being the best and a thumbs down being the worst) before switching to a traditional five star system. I also employ no restraint on spoilers and will discuss the film’s finer points in the appropriately-titled “Nitty-Gritty” section.

While May 4th is known the world over as Star Wars Day, many also choose to extend the celebrations of the course of three days, with one of them being the “Evil Star Wars Day” of May 6th (as in “Sith”). This year, I’ve been using the three Star Wars Days as the perfect excuse … Continue reading Talking Movies [May the Sith]: Star Wars: Episode VI: Return of the Jedi (2019)

Talking Movies [Revenge of the 5th]: Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (2019)

Although May 4th is known the world over as Star Wars Day, many also choose to celebrate the popular, generation-spanning science-fiction saga on May 5th as a play on the word “Sith”. This can extend Star Wars Day into three day celebration of the influential science-fiction series and, as a result, I am using each … Continue reading Talking Movies [Revenge of the 5th]: Star Wars: Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back (2019)
